Here in Sanctum Una Una we support a sustainable way of living. We take care of our natural surroundings and we work closely with local communities in Una Una and surrounding islands.
Resort Management
In the daily life in Sanctum Una Una Dive Resort, we reduce chemical usage of cleaning products by making our own from the products that you can find in any kitchen hold.
We also grow our own Luffa sponges, which we use for cleaning dishes and these are also great for body scrubs.
Beauty items and toiletries come from nearby islands, where local communities produce natural soaps, sun screen and toothpaste etc. You can find plenty of aloe vera plants if you catch a sun burn. We have citronella and lemon grass all around the resort to give us little protection against the mosquitos. We also have pinecone ginger for natural soap growing in our resort.
We don`t have any plastic straws or water bottles in our resort, we use papaya straws and we have refill stations for drinking water.
We have two kitchens, one which is using gas and wood fire and another one, where we use drift wood and coconut shells, which we have plenty around.
Garden
Our organic garden provides seasonal vegetables and fruits that we happily serve to our customers. You can find our fruit trees in the resort and the staff is happy to show you around.
We have few chickens in the resort that keep our garden nicely fertilized, the organic waste feed’s our chickens.
We don’t use any chemical in our garden, we have a healthy permaculture garden.
Food, fruit juices and fresh coconut are coming from our garden or nearby islands in the area. Sanctum is also very vegetarian- and veganfriendly
Waste management
We have recycling rubbish bins for different waste and they are used for different purposes. Organic waste is placed in our garden and into our fruit trees around the resort, our chickens are very happy to dig around eating the scarps and giving the earth nice fertilation. We have several compost and we use the soil to our flowers and garden.

Cans and metal are used different decoration projects and rest of the aluminum and metals are sent to the mainland for reuse purposes.
Paper and cartons are used in our wood fire kitchen for start up and ashes are great for our garden.
We do regular beach clean ups with our staff, local school kids and customers can get rewarded by fresh coconut exchange of the beach clean up.
Natural materials
Look around the resort and you will see the usage of natural materials in many ways. We like to use bamboo and coconut materials for different purposes like bamboo shower heads, flower pots, decorations and rubbish bins.
The tables, shells and other furniture are built by drift wood and other local woods.
Some of our games like dart board is hand made here from the wood scraps. Other board games are also made by using scrap wood and imagination.
Missions
We have many environmental friendly programs in Sanctum Una Una Resort, where every guest is happily welcomed to join. We have school program, mangrove restoration project and we are part of the different organizations to help the local community in different ways.
